The best investment of the year
After eight years in the livestock industry I had never joined a conference before. Global Dairy Farmers changed that. It is the first organisation for me that brings dairy farmers and industry stakeholders together to travel the world and learn about dairy farming on a global scale. In my view that is a package that cannot fail, and the true value revealed itself during my first trip to the USA.
It started with a ride to Fair Oaks. For a couple of minutes I actually thought John was my Uber driver (haha), which could not have been further from the truth. Within an hour I realised I was sitting next to a man with deep knowledge and experience. That conversation set the tone for three days of learning and sharing ideas with farmers, companies and leaders who are part of this group.
The connections built during this congress are remarkable. Since returning I have stayed in touch with many of you and I am excited about the projects we will explore together in 2026. A group like this cannot be measured in leads or sales because that is not what it is for. It is a network of like-minded individuals who face similar challenges and strive to find solutions together. It is also a space to share thoughts on the issues our industry faces in today’s world. To me, that is what value stands for.
I said it many times to HATO Management and I will say it again: “This is the best investment of the year.”
